Last week, I was contacted by the Washington Post for permission to publish my “letter to the editor.” It never ran so here it is…
Will the Washington Post be running a front page story about Creigh Deeds’ “growth” in public office? In 2006, Deeds supported marriage being defined as between one man and one woman. Earlier in his career he voted for a ban on partial-birth abortion. Now Deeds is for homosexual marriage and he favors no limits on abortion at all. Given that Deed’s votes do not square with his 2009 rhetoric, fair-minded reporting would call for this article,” ‘89 Thesis A Different Side of McDonnell” to be on the editorial page as an endorsement for Deeds.
I cannot say, I have been pleased with the response given by the McDonnell campaign to the smear tactics used by the Post to boost Creigh Deeds’ dying campaign, but keeping Obama politics as far from the borders of Virginia as possible is still worthwhile. Despite the significant lead by McDonnell in the polls, late money, and the Obama tactics we witnessed in the last elections could change the outcome very quickly.
