Deeds, Wagner, and Shannon Love Tax Increases

Creigh Deeds finally released his plan for transportation in The Washington Post this morning. This plan includes something that we could see coming from miles away…tax increases to fund transportation. Now, Creigh Deeds is no stranger to tax increases, as he voted to raise the gas tax, while serving in the state senate.

Lieutenant Governor candidate, Jody Wagner, also jumped on board by saying that she would work with Deeds to improve transportation, even if it included taxes. (Source: The Washington Post). Considering that Wagner miscalculated the budget, while serving as Secretary of Finance, it is no surprise that she would be in favor of raising taxes to solve Virginia’s transportation woes.

Since the Democratic ticket in Virginia has two tax lovers, you know that Steve Shannon will also join their ranks. Shannon’s record from the General Assembly shows that he has voted consistently against taxpayers by voting for tax increases. In fact, one of his first votes as Delegate was against $400 million in tax relief. After that vote, he followed it up by voting for one of the largest tax increases in Virginia history.

Does Virginia need more taxes, especially during these challenging economic times? No! You can guarantee under a Deeds/Warner/Shannon Administration that your taxes will skyrocket.
