The Virginia Senate approved measures (23-17) on Feb. 1, 2010 to make illegal a federal or state mandate that requires citizens to buy health insurance. The state House is also expected to approve it. Gov. McDonnell opposes government mandates and has indicated support for the bill’s intent.
